International Women and Wives

One of the greatest ways we have found to minister to international women and their families has been through a weekly cooking class. We began with a simple vision that the class would provide a place for these women and their families to come and meet one another while learning the basics of cooking in the United States. The response has been very positive. The women have started inviting other women to the class and have begun making connections with one another in friendship. We would like to enlarge the scope of this weekly, 2-hour class, into more of a holistic ministry among these women and their families. This project would support not only the cooking class, but it would also fund other activities with the women and their families such as cultural outings and personal visits.

The goal of this project is to facilitate community, to help in acculturation, and to spiritually support the international women who are connected with the University of Southern California. Our hope is to make deep connections with the women as they make deeper connections with one another. Most of the women are the spouses of USC students and they do not otherwise have activities specifically planned for them and their needs. We recognize that these connections are of great value as we seek to be the presence of Christ among internationals in Los Angeles.
