Backpacks for Immigrants and Refugees in Canada

CBF Field Personnel Marc and Kim Wyatt work with immigrants and refugees in Ottawa, Canada. They share a unique story:

We had a short-term volunteer mission team from Alabama that came up and each of the 50 member team brought a book bag and gave it as an offering on the last Sunday they were with the Haitian congregation with whom they were partnering that week.

Denis Tanner, Associate Pastor of Student and Adult Ministries at Shades Crest Baptist Church, writes: Most of our group took a backpack on the plane ride to Canada and loaded it with items needed for the trip and when we were there we left the backpacks for the church to give to those in need.  Most of the backpacks were new but they were able to donate a close to new backpack if they did not have the funds for a brand new one.

As your church plans your next mission trip, plan to leave something behind intentionally. Discuss with the field personnel with whom you are partnering how you can make the most effective use of your resources to meet needs.
