Devotions from the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Internationals Center

This scripture has been going around in my head: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. Deut 6:5. Lets pray:  We draw close to you Father.  Our lives are busy and noisy.  Make a way for us to feel your presence.   If that is when we are driving to work or on our lunch break.  Speak to us within our hearts.  We desire to hear from You.  We love you Lord and like a small child we need to be assured that we are pleasing to You.  If we are struggling with illness touch our bodies.  If our minds are confused and depressed pour your light and direction into them. If our marriages are stale and dull bring intimacy.  If we are lonely draw us into a deeper relationship with You.  If we feel unworthy affirm us with your word.  We are broken vessels and we need Your grace and power to go forth into the world.  Thank you Father for hearing us and loving us.  We rejoice in your goodness. ...

Although we are assured of victory we must engage in the battle until Christ returns.  So we need to be wise and arm ourselves against the ploys of the evil one.  Let us pray together:

Eph 6:12-18

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.  Therefore take up the full armor of God so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything to stand firm.  Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, AND HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE in addition to all, taking up THE SHEILD OF FAITH which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one and take THE HELMET OF SALVATION and the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT which is...

I do not wish to sound negative, but sometimes when God is about to do something big the enemy will attack.  I am struggling with swollen lymph glands.  My husband is getting sick.  So my friends we should pray.

Father I ask for protection over everyone involved in this prayer encounter.  Lord put a hedge of protection around us.  Continue to work on our hearts so that we will be prepared to go into battle against the powers of darkness.  It is in You we live and breathe and have our being.  We can do all things through Christ Jesus.  Where we are weak you are strong; where we struggle we can find freedom in You.  All the unspoken requests that are in our hearts, we give them to You.  You know what they are.  We lay them down.  We receive healing, peace, power and forgiveness.  We are your children we will listen to Your voice.  Thank you, Lord, for all the blessings you bestow upon us everyday, every hour, and every moment. ...

Father we bring before these places that need Your light:  the people who work there, the people who frequent there.  That You would do a miracle and your gospel goes forth to reach these places.  Help us to bring the good news into ______________________.

Father all the places and others I did not see that make a profit from exploiting people by selling drugs and alcohol; send your children there.  Make a way through your local church and agencies to give hope and healing.  Abundantly bless the churches and agencies working for change. Send financial help and workers to go forth into the field and bring back a new harvest of souls.  We praise You in advance for all that You are going to do.  We thank you that we have the opportunity to be chosen to pray and break the bonds of darkness.  We give You all the glory, honor, and praise in Jesus name,  Amen.

Father prepare our hearts for the prayer encounter. As we go about our day remind us of our blessings and help us remember others who are struggling to survive.   We need Your help in being humble and seeing others through Your eyes.  If we have anything in our hearts that we need to confess to You bring it to the surface so that we can repent and have a clean heart and right spirit.  Lord help your children who are living on the streets and selling themselves.  Bring into these areas programs that will give safety, counseling, re-hab, and hope.  Bless the outreach programs now in this area. Stir in our hearts a willingness to help make changes.  Show us where we can help.  If our hearts are hard Lord soften them by Your Holy Spirit that we will never be the same again.

Not by might, or by power, but by Your spirit.  Lord you have called us for such a time as this.  We surrender all.  We give you the glory and all the praise for what you are going to do.

In Jesus name Amen.
